Hushbridge vs Lakera

Lakera guards an AI application against attacks and leaks. Hushbridge protects the client details a person puts into a prompt.

Who it is for

Lakera

Different job: AI application guardrails

Lakera is now part of Check Point. The deal was announced in September 2025 and closed on 22 October 2025. Its docs now call the product Check Point AI Guardrails. It sits in front of a model or agent your team runs. It looks for prompt attacks, unsafe tool use and data leaks, then blocks or masks. It fits security and engineering teams who ship their own AI apps.

Hushbridge

Local protection layer

Hushbridge works where people already use AI. On your device it swaps details for placeholders such as [PERSON_1] and shows you what the AI will get. After you review it, the placeholder version goes to the AI. Real values come back on your device. It fits professionals using ChatGPT or Claude for client work, and developers who want that step in their own code.

Its PII detection lists eight types: personal names, US mailing addresses, US phone numbers, email addresses, IP addresses, credit card numbers, IBANs and US Social Security numbers. Choose Lakera when

  • You run your own AI app or agent and need to stop prompt injection and jailbreaks.
  • You want one API call to screen both what goes into the model and what comes out.
  • You want the screening to run inside your own infrastructure under an Enterprise license.
  • You already buy security tools from Check Point.

Choose Hushbridge when

  • Your people paste client notes into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and you want details swapped first.
  • You want the AI answer to come back with the real names in place.
  • You want to check the exact placeholder text before you send it.
  • You prefer paying per use over an enterprise contract.

Limits of each

Lakera

  • It protects an app you build. It does not sit in a worker's ChatGPT tab.
  • The PII list in its docs is short. Addresses, phone numbers and national IDs are US formats.
  • No doc we read says masked values are put back in the answer.
  • Pricing beyond the free sign-up is not public.

Hushbridge

  • Detection can miss a name with no context cues. The rest of the text can still point to a person.
  • The extension does not scan attachments.
  • A chat site's page can read text while you type it.
  • It does not defend an AI app against prompt injection.
  • You still need to review the text before you send it.
